Kurfürstliche Burg Eltville

When you stroll along the Rhine river in Eltville you can already see the tower of the "Kurfürstliche Burg" (castle of Eltville) from quite a distance.

It's from the 14th century and one of the popular places for wedding ceremonies in the Rheingau.

Reason for that is also its Rosengarten (rosery) making it look like the castle of "Sleeping Beauty" in summer.

It does look like a "Sleeping Beauty" castle...even now...I remember vaguely that it is that color of castle in the movie, no? :-)

My laate father, Helmut Haessler (1901-1997), painted this castle in 1971. He called it "Burg Crass in Eltville". What a great picture, thak you , Nicola.
