Karl Comic Books

Since 1988, the Rheingau has its own comic series. It all started with "Karl", who discovers the "Spätlese" in the first book. Alltogether there are 12 books about characters, stories and historical facts from the region. And they are a lot of fun to read! Some of them are also translated in English, French and Japanese.

Dear Nicola -

I have friends in Wiesbaden and wanted to read this comic about your region ... and Riesling... to study German, but your link has a couple of errors. The correct website is: http://www.karl-comic.de/

I'll visit your beautiful region soon ... the closest I've been is Alsace. Here in Québec we are more familiar with the French side of the Rhine.

lagatta - thanks so much for letting me know about the link! I had forgotten to double-check... it's fixed now!

I hope you'll have a great time when you come visit!! I've been to the Alsace several times and really like it - there are quite some similarities to the Rheingau, you'll see...

cynthia - I wish I could show you more from the comics, but I'm afraid I'll run into copyright problems then... (they have some extracts on their website though)

I saw them in bookstores here in France too...never read them though...do you collect them? Comic books are mushrooming nowadays...there are so many to choose from, I don't know where to even start :-)

jasp - yes, it's a lot of fun especially if you recognize some of the local characters...

karine - I don't think I have any "Werner" at home but I can try to post some more "Karl"...

maya - I don't really collect them. I think I don't even have all of the Karl books. Just enjoy them when I see them...
