Houses in Geisenheim
Some deatils of timbered houses next to the Dome in Geisenheim. Most of the people in the Rheingau are katholic and you'll see statues like this madonna on older houses quite often.
Did you go to school in Geisenheim? It is a nice place now, as we all can see....actually... I visited twice this week, went shopping there. Nicola, too bad we couldn't meet "im Rheingau" but maybe next time when I come to Germany. I am flying back on Sat. and Friday I will be very busy! But you could catch me at the Wine Rest. Wibbes in Kiedrich Friday night! Bye, thanks again, I will always enjoy your photos, Gudrun
Nice pictures posted recently - love the tunnel to the rhine post - did i start some sort of graffitti craze off with my "Who needs the Louvre?" or am i just being concieted?
In answer to your question, "can't fight it" There is a saying that, 'You can't fight city hall.' Like if you get a parking ticket or you feel there is an injustice, you just can't fight it. I think because there is too much bureaucracy. The picture is of the city hall.
fraser - next time I pass by, I'll check that for you! Luckily most of the old houses have their date written outside somewhere.
gudl - yes, I went to highschool in Geisenheim. A pity that it didn't work out with our meeting but we'll stay in touch over the blog! :) Have a great flight back home!!
adam - you remembered me that I had a graffiti photo lined up as well. :) If you're into graffitis, I have several of them in my Wiesbaden Daily Photo blog. Also check out the Trier DP site - he posts a graffiti every Sunday.
heidi - thanks for the explanation!
sidney - that's interesting! I'll check your blog to see if I can spot one :).
lorraine - that would be a lovely surprise! :)
Thanks for your comments outdoorexposure, ash, mohammadreza, g!

Thanks this shot -- very interesting. Would you be able to provide a closeup of the carving? When were the houses built?

Hi Nicola,
Great shot. You really get the feel of the town.

Nice typical architecture.
It's funny, the Philippines are also very Catholic and we too have a lot of those statues...
It's a beautiful cityscape.
Memories...
I feel like going in for a cup of coffee or a beer. Or both.
