Ruin of Burg Ehrenfels
Photo: Courtesy of Christel BausingerBetween Rüdesheim and Assmanshausen you can find the ruins of Burg Ehrenfels which dates back to the year 943. It's been one of the points where the ships had to pay their taxes in order to be allowed to pass. There are several others along the Rhine in this area which are best seen during a Rhine boat trip!

I see fields of gold with view on beauty ancient castle
One of the most beautiful I have seen recently.
Lovely picture Nicola, we have a lot of old castles aaround here, I must try and visit them next year!
