Graues Haus ("Grey House") in Winkel

The Rheingau has lots of old, fascinating buildings - one of them is the "Graues Haus" (which means "Grey House") in Winkel. Don't ask me why they call it that way, maybe because of the color of the stones... It's estimated to be one of the oldest houses in Germany (from around 850). There used to be a very good (and expensive) restaurant in there but it closed and since then the building is empty. What a pity...

Love it! Nicola...I'm going to be curious everyday to see which photo you pick for photo of the day :-)

Did we go there, to this grey house, when I was there? It looks familiar but I can't tell...it looks like the building next to the church where you guys got married...hmm, maybe it's the same architecture. Love architectures, so I can't wait to see what your region has to offer...

Bravo, Nicola...'til next time.

The architecture looks similar, you're right. But this one is in a different town. We might have driven by since it's close to the Rhine River...
